題箋にローマ字で「OORANWDAZIN」と刷ってある。
安政6年（1859年）の横浜開港のあと、外国人の風俗を描いた横浜絵が大量に出た。実物を見ずに描かれたものも多く、この図のローマ字も綴りが正確ではない。
歌川芳藤（1828〜1887）は国芳の門下で、横浜絵、美人画、武者絵、明治になってからは開化絵も描いた。この摺りはエミリー・クレイン・チャドボーンが1926年にシカゴ美術館へ寄贈した。

歌川芳藤
歌川芳藤（1828〜1887）は「おもちゃ絵の芳藤」と呼ばれた。歌川国芳門下に学びながら、錦絵の主戦場である役者絵や武者絵ではなく、子供の手に渡る一枚——切って組み立てる組上絵、着せ替え、双六、そして猫尽くしの戯画——に生涯を捧げた絵師である。
