浮世絵の世界では、誰の門を叩いたかがその絵師の血脈を決める。歌川の系譜、菊川の系譜——師から弟子へ、名と筆法が受け継がれてゆく。尾形月耕（安政6年〈1859年〉〜大正9年〈1920年〉）は、その系図のどこにも属さない絵師である。
